Just Weight – Jan. 9 - Week #2 – Day #2, (Day 9 of 365 – lost .4) (Total loss 4.4, 47.6 to go)


Following a guideline for the food pyramid isn’t the easiest thing I have ever done. But isn’t that the point? We need change? You know the saying, “If you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got.” Well, over the years, I’ve got plenty. Pounds, that is. Eating right isn’t pretty, at least not in the beginning. I miss the fat! Actually, the Beef Baked Potato was the highlight of my day because I do love beef. Can’t complain about Shrimp Stir Fry either. I did have a pretty easy day and did lose .4 pound yesterday. Heading in the right direction. Don’t Forget to Drink Your Water.

Just Weight – Jan. 8 - Week #2 – Day #1, (Day 8 of 365 - lost .4) - (LOST 4.0 Week, 48 to go)


Well, there is nothing like success to bring back the focus and momentum. I lost exactly 4 pounds the first week. Have I mentioned that I have not been nearly as good about drinking my water as I need to be so will be working hard on that this week? Forget Your Failures is today’s slogan. I certainly had some daily failures this past week, and they will most definitely be easier to forget with a 4 pound loss. Took about a 20 minute walk before breakfast since I was feeling so good about myself. Today’s plan was easy. Again, I got to eat out at lunch. Hunger pains have not haunted me so far. It was off to the store early so I am ready for the week.

Just Weight – Jan. 7 - Week #1 – Day #7 of 365 (Gained .8 pounds yesterday – Total loss 3.6, 48.4 to go)



One week complete. Whee… Gained .8 pound and although it may have been a tough week to start my journey with travelling and all, I do think I scaled hurdles along the way that I won’t face again because I have learned to head them off at the pass. Next time I’ll be better prepared. Today was easier, for whatever reason, and ended with one of my personal favorites, popcorn and a movie at home. I waited until late this afternoon to look at the menu and grocery list for next week. I will need to do that a day or two earlier to be better prepared. Routine is always good for me. Attitude is Everything. I’m trying to do just that.

Just Weight – Jan. 6 - Week #1 – Day 6 of 365 (Gained .2 pounds yesterday – Total loss 4.4, 47.6 to go)


Good grief! I gained weight today (.2 pounds) for the first time while on this life-changing venture. Okay, it is only day #6 of 365 for me, but I was doing so well!!! I thought being in control in someone else’s kitchen would be a snap. What I had neglected to figure out was that the fridge and pantry are not filled with the same “types” of ingredients I have at home. I used white rice rather than brown, ate a real ice cream bar rather than low-cal, etc. Perhaps it was the burrito. Okay, true confessions; I did steal a few fries from a distracted child. I suppose all this info is good stuff to know. I feel right now that just WEIGHT has taken over my life. That sounds like a major stress level and it should not be. just WEIGHT IS supposed to take over my “eating” life for the next 359 days. If you have my plan, you will note that today’s “wisdom” is Develop New Behaviors. I must learn to keep it simple and perhaps there is something to the not weighing every day thing.

Just Weight – Jan. 5 - Week #1 – Day 5 of 365 (Lost.8 pounds yesterday – Total loss 4.6, 47.4 to go)


Out of town, feeling good and in control. It was a real treat to see that today’s lunch was an *eat out day. A bean burrito at a fast food restaurant is high in calories, fat and carbs, but it is also high in protein and fiber which offsets the damage, I hope. I also didn’t feel deprived. Anyway, it’s just one, and everyone was happy. Got our vegetables in tonight with stir fry with dinner. Today – Substitute Foods You Have on Hand. That may seem obvious, but there were no strawberries in the house, so an apple did the job instead.

Just Weight – Jan. 4 - Week #1 – Day 4 of 365, (Lost.2 pounds yesterday – Total loss 3.8, 48.2 to go)

I always weigh first thing in the morning so it stays consistent. NEVER think you will be smart by getting back on the scale later in the day, even after exercising. My reward for being good yesterday at lunch was another loss of .2. I’ll take it with a smile. We left today for a four day trip. At least we are staying with our granddaughter while her mother and daddy are out of town. It should be easy to follow just WEIGHT as I will have full control of their kitchen. Today’s “wisdom” reminded me to Walk, Walk, Walk. Caring for an 8 year old and two dogs...walking is not a problem.

JustWeight - Jan. 3 - Week #1 – Day #3, (Lost 3.6 pounds, 48.4 to go)

Lunch with a friend today. Am I crazy? I lost another 2.2 yesterday (mostly water, I am sure). First big challenge for me because for some reason I have a magnetic attraction to fattening foods in restaurants. I went back and read today’s “wisdom” which only told me to eat my snacks so that was no help at all. My goodness, it’s only day 3. With my strong motivation in tacked and armed with my daily menu, off I went, ordered a “dry” chicken Caesar, enjoyed the company, gave up my ice cream tonight and am heading off to bed feeling I didn’t do too badly.
